    Глагол to tear в значении "рвать, разорвать" обозначает нанесение повреждения чему-либо, сделанному из ткани или бумаги, не уточняя характера разрыва, в отличие от нижеследующих глаголов - to rip, to ladder, to be in shreds, to rip smth to shreds, to split и прилагательных - frayed, tattered. To rip - рвать, порвать, разодрать что-либо сильно и быстро: Stop pulling my dress, you'll rip it! Перестань тянуть мое платье, ты его разорвешь.
